Martin Grover

Martin Grover ( born October 20, 1811 in Hartwick, Otsego County, New York, † August 23 1875 in Angelica, New York ) was an American politician. From 1845 to 1847 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Martin Grover attended the public schools of his home. After a subsequent study of law and qualifying as a lawyer, he began to work in this profession in Angelica in Allegany County. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career.

In the congressional elections of 1844 Grover was in the 30th electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of William Spring Hubbell on March 4, 1845. Until March 3, 1847, he was able to complete a term in Congress. These were shaped by the events of the Mexican-American War.

1853 Grover ran unsuccessfully for the office of Attorney General of New York. Since 1859 until his death on 23 August 1875, he held several judgeships in his home state.
