Martin Marinčin

Martin Marinčin (* February 18, 1992 in Košice ) is a Slovak ice hockey player on the position of the defender. Since April 2011 he is with the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League under contract and playing in parallel for their farm team, the Oklahoma City Barons in the American Hockey League.

Career

Martin Marinčin began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior section of the HC Košice, where he held numerous ages to 2009. For the season 2009/10 he moved to the offer of the Slovak U-20 national team that took part in the operation of the Slovak Extraliga League, and there was his professional debut. In 35 games he scored it six points scorer, recording 71 penalty minutes.

NHL Entry Draft 2010 Marinčin was selected in the second round to 46th position overall by the Edmonton Oilers. Subsequently, Awtomobilist Yekaterinburg, which stripped him in fifth position in the KHL Junior Draft, his transfer rights in the Kontinental Hockey League secured.

For the 2010/11 season Marinčin eventually moved to North America and joined the Prince George Cougars of the Western Hockey League, which had previously selected him as first overall in the CHL Import Draft. In his debut season he scored 56 points in 67 games, so he was the best point rookie defender in the league. After leaving the Cougars from the WHL playoffs Marinčin signed an entry-level three-year contract with the Edmonton Oilers and then earned his first race for the farm team of the Oilers, Oklahoma City Barons in the American Hockey League.

The following season, he was sent back to the Prince George Cougars again by the Oilers, who transferred him during the season for Premier League rivals Regina Pats. With these he came but again does not go beyond the first round of play-offs. Finally to season 2012/13 he stood firmly in the squad Oklahoma City Barons and finished the season with 30 points as the top scoring defender of the team behind Justin Schultz off. He also led the team with a plus / minus score of 20.
