Martina Janková

Martina Janková ( * 1972 in Orlová ) is a Swiss soprano of Czech origin.

Life and work

Janková belonged after her studies at the Music Academy of Basel and the International Opera Studio in Zurich fourteen years the ensemble of the Zurich Opera, where she sang under conductors such as Nikolaus Harnoncourt, William Christie, Mark Minkowski, Christopher Hogwood, Adam Fischer and Ingo Metzmacher.

Opera

In Zurich, the artist designed especially Mozart roles such as Susanna, Despina, Pamina and Zerlina, but also the Celia in Lucio Silla. They also sang the Angelica in Handel's Orlando, the title role in Janáček 's The Cunning Little Vixen, and Nanetta Marzellina, Gretel in Humperdinck Hansel and Gretel or the Ighino in Pfitzner's Palestrina.

A close collaboration combines the artist with the Salzburg Festival. She debuted in 2000 as First Lady in Luigi Cherubini's Medea, returned in 2001 as Echo in Ariadne auf Naxos and Karolka in Jenufa back, then sang Papagena 2002, 2003 Tebaldo and Hermione, in 2005 the Papagena, 2007 Cherubino and 2012 the Aminta in Mozart's Re pastore, after 2013, Despina. She also participated in several concerts, most recently in 2012 and 2013 as part of the spiritual overture.

Further engagements as Marcellina at the Opéra National de Paris (as Ilia and Despina, as well as Sofia in Rossini's Il Signor Bruschino ) to which Státní opera Praha, as Celia to the Vienna Festival and in multiple roles to the Grand Théâtre de Genève - inter alia, as Drusilla in Monteverdi's L' incoronazione di Poppea.

Concert

Martina Janková is also a concert singer and sang, among others, the Berlin and Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, the Radio Symphony Orchestras of Frankfurt and Berlin, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Concentus Musicus Wien, the Czech Philharmonic, the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich and the Orchestra La Scintilla of the Zurich Opera House, and the Cleveland Orchestra under conductors such as Ivor Bolton, Bertrand de Billy, Riccardo Chailly, Iván Fischer, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Daniele Gatti, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Philippe Herreweghe, Marek Janowski, Sir Neville Marriner, Ingo Metzmacher, Sir Simon Rattle and Wolfgang Sawallisch.

As a lieder singer was Martina Janková in London's Wigmore Hall, at Prague Spring Festival, Rheingau Music Festival and the Festival Musiques en Été in Geneva, at the Styriarte in Graz to hear at the Lucerne Festival and the Salzburg Festival. In addition, she sang several recitals at the Zurich Opera, also duo evenings with Bernarda Fink.
