Martinček

Martinček ( until the 19th century Slovak " Svätý Martin "; Hungarian Szentmárton ) is a municipality in Okres Ružomberok within the Žilinský in the north of Slovakia with 383 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2011).

Geography

The community is located at the western end of the basin Liptovská kotlina, the western part of the larger Podtatranská kotlina, on the right bank of the Vah below the mountains Chočské Hills. The center is located at an altitude of 583 m nm and is approximately three miles ( road distance ) from Ružomberok.

Neighboring municipalities are Likavka in the west and in the east Lisková.

History

In today's municipal area, there was a fortified settlement of Púchov Culture on the mountain Mních, 1914 fourteen bronze sword and other objects from the Early Bronze Age in the district Hlinisko were also found.

The place Martinček itself was first mentioned in an unspecified deed dated from the reign of Ladislaus IV (1272-1290) in writing, which was cited in 1391. The settlement developed near the built against 1260 Martin's Church, which was originally planned only as a parish church for the neighboring towns and Likavka Lisková. The parish is listed as 1332 Sanctus Martinus de Liptovia. Until 1848 Martinček belonged to the manor of Castle Likava.

1784 are listed 28 houses and 229 inhabitants in 1828 and finally 39 houses and 274 inhabitants.

Population

According to the 2011 census lived in Martinček 386 inhabitants, of whom 379 Slovaks, Czechs and Moravians three. Three residents did not know. 364 residents pleaded with the Roman Catholic Church and two residents to the Evangelical Church AB Twelve residents were non-denominational and eight inhabitants, the denomination is not determined.
