Marty Murray

Marty Murray ( born February 16, 1975 in Deloraine, Manitoba ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player and current coach, who played during his active career, among other things, for the Calgary Flames, Philadelphia Flyers, Carolina Hurricanes and Los Angeles Kings in the National Hockey League has.

Career

His junior time spent Marty Murray Brandon Wheat Kings in the Western Hockey League. Marty was there, the top scorer in a very strong team in which for example, Wade Redden and Bryan McCabe played. In the NHL Entry Draft in 1993 he was selected by the Calgary Flames in the fourth round as 96th.

His first three years in Calgary did not run very successful and he played mostly at the farm team of the Flames in St. John. 19 games he played for Calgary. Marty moved to Europe and played one year in Villach SV in the Austrian league. The following season he joined the DEL for the Cologne Sharks. After he was top scorer again at two stations in Europe, he returned to Calgary, but was again used mostly in St. John. In 2001 he moved to the Philadelphia Flyers. There he was able to fight for a place in the starting line- two years. For the season 2003/ 04 he moved to the Carolina Hurricanes, was there but not very successful.

After the NHL lockout Marty cured from his knee injury. In the 2005/06 season he played in the DEL for the Hannover Scorpions, with whom he reached the semifinals. He scored seven goals in 24 games and had 15 assists.

Marty got in June 2006, an offer from the Philadelphia Flyers of the NHL, which he accepted also. Marty returns the Hannover Scorpions after only one year the back to give it a try again in the best league in the world. According to Murray's statements he wanted to go again for the Flyers for points.

However, he was only in the farm team of the Flyers, the Philadelphia Phantoms, under and received in November 2006, the release, prompting the Los Angeles Kings took the opportunity to sign him. After 19 games with the Kings, he was to their farm team, the Manchester Monarchs, sent to the AHL.

For the season 2007/08, Murray moved to Switzerland for HC Lugano. There, he scored seven goals in 49 games and made 25 templates. After only one year, it pulled the Canadians back to America to go again at the Manchester Monarchs for goals. In 76 missions, he went to 54 scorer points, including 15 goals. For the season 2009/10 he moved to Canada to the Manitoba Moose, where he played 59 games and 30 points scorer collected. After only one year with the Moose, he moved to the Milwaukee Admirals in which the striker ended his active career in the summer of 2010. For the 2011/12 season Murray was as head coach of the Minot Minotaur, a team of North American Hockey League, active.
