Mary Snell-Hornby

Mary Snell - Hornby ( born April 2, 1940 in Mirfield, Yorkshire ) is a British scientist translation. She was a long time professor of translation studies at the University of Vienna and was a major influence on the development of the discipline of translation studies. Life and work

After leaving school at St. Felix School in Suffolk studied Mary Snell - Hornby 1958 to 1962 at the University of St. Andrews German, English and French and graduated in 1962 with a Master of Arts in German from. In 1964 she went to Germany to teach in Munich until 1969 as a university lecturer at the English Department of the University of Munich.
