Máslojedy

Máslojedy ( German Maslojed, also Maslowed ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located eleven kilometers northwest of the center of Hradec Králové and belongs to Okres Hradec Králové.

Geography

Máslojedy located between the Bystřice and the Elbe River in the foothills of the mountain Horschitzer country. To the west of the hill Svib ( Swiep, 330 m) rises. To the west and southwest of the village lies the battlefield of the Battle of Hradec Kralove, remember the numerous memorial stones. North of the nature reserve is Hořiněveska bažantnice.

Neighboring towns are Hořiněves in the north, Račice nad Trotinou in the northeast, and Rodov Sendražice in the east, in the southeast Neděliště, Chlum in the south, Čistěves in the southwest, and Sadová Sovětice in the west and Hněvčeves and Benátky in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1241 as a possession of the German Knights. Later Máslojedy was among the goods of the monastery Opatovice. After its destruction by the Hussites in 1468 was Petr Kdulincský of Ostroměř owner of Máslojeder goods. 1806 opened a village school.

After the abolition of patrimonial Máslovědy formed in 1850 a municipality in the district Koniginhof. On July 3, 1866 met during the German war west of the village in Swiepwald the warring Prussian and Austrian troops on each other. The bloody battle, which extended even to the hill Chlum is entered as Battle of Hradec Kralove in the story. In the war year 1866, the school received its own building. Since 1919 the place has been called Máslojedy. After the Munich Agreement, the village was from 1938, close to the German Reich and inhabitants of the place were operating at night as a frontier. On May 11, 1945, the Red Army occupied the village. In 1949 the municipality of the Okres Jaroměř has been assigned and came to its dissolution on 1 January 1961 Okres Hradec Králové. In 1963, the village school was closed. In 1971, the annexation to Číštěves and together with it the beginning of 1989 after Všestary. Since 1992, the community is Máslojedy again.
