Master of the Housebook

, Often abbreviated to the master of the house as the book house book master, under the name Master of the Amsterdam Cabinet known ( active 1470-1505 in the Rhine Palatinate ) was a German painter, draftsman, and engraver thriller.

Life and work

The master of the house was a book probably mainly on the Upper Rhine, perhaps at Heidelberger Hof active artist. It has its generally accepted today Notnamen of his planet drawings in a house book, which had since the 17th century in the collections of the princes Waldburg- Wolfegg. He is also known in the art history as a masterpiece of the Amsterdam Cabinet, as is most of his surviving drypoint in the Amsterdam Rijksmuseum. About his background and education is not known.

His works have been relevant for the arts in the Middle Rhine.

There have been repeated attempts to determine its identity. The represented by several art historians claim that he might identify with the documentary detected in Mainz Erhard Reuwich from Utrecht, can not be proven and is rather unlikely.

He created alongside drawings and portraits and significant bites. His most famous works are the engraving " Youth and Death ," which is probably formed at the beginning of the 16th century and the Gotha Lovers ( 1480 ), the first independent double portrait of the German panel painting. Most of the others, in the early history of art painting attributed to the Master are not due in 1994 according to research by Daniel Hess almost certainly due to him, even if close contacts are clearly visible.
