Mateja Kezman (2009)

Mateja Kezman ( Serbian Cyrillic Матеја Кежман; born April 12, 1979 in Zemun / Belgrade, SFR Yugoslavia ) is a former Serbian football player who was three times top scorer in the dutch Eredivisie between 2000 and 2005.

Career

In the club

Kezman played since beginning his career as a striker. From 1997 to 1998 he was at FK Sartid and then moved to the Serbian club FK Partizan, for whom he played between 1998 and 2000. Here European Scouts first became aware of him, after which he joined in the summer of 2000 for the release of the equivalent of 14 million euros to PSV Eindhoven.

Kezman used his talent and developed steadily continued, so he became one of the best strikers in the Premier Division of the Netherlands. In 2003 he was Footballer of the Year three times the Niederlande.Kežman was top scorer in the seasons 2000/ 01, 2003 /04 and 2004/ 05 in the Netherlands. At PSV he scored 111 goals in 132 games. In Eindhoven, he also received the nickname "Batman".

With the money the owner Roman Abramovich Chelsea Kezman and his strike partner Arjen Robben committed for the 2004/ 05 season. His career revival at Chelsea but was slowed down considerably, because he usually came only as a substitute behind the other strikers Chelsea used.

For the 2005/06 season Kezman was committed for nine million euros from the Spanish club Atlético Madrid. In August 2006, he spent seven million euro transfer fee to the Turkish club Fenerbahce, where he signed a four year contract.

After two seasons at Fenerbahçe Kezman moved on loan to France to Paris SG. He was initially hired for a year. In July 2009, Paris use an agreed purchase option of € 4.5 million. However, he was already on loan in August 2009 at Zenit St Petersburg until the end of the season the Russian league. In early 2010 Kezman played again at Paris SG. In early November 2010, the contract of striker was dissolved by mutual consent.

In November 2010, Kezman has signed a contract with South China AA. In the representative team from Hong Kong he co-starred, among others, with the former England international Nicky Butt. His active career he led in 2011 with little more than three months at the club BATE Borisov of Belarus continues, for which he ran aground six times in the Wyschejschaja Liha and five times in the Champions League. His involvement in Borisov ended on 31 December 2011.

In early 2012 he finished his career.

In the National Team

Mateja Kezman played 49 matches and scored 17 goals for the national team of Serbia and Montenegro.

Kezman holds the record for the fastest red card at a World Championship. At Euro 2000 in Belgium and the Netherlands, he was expelled in the group match against Norway 37 seconds after coming on, due to a rude foul on Erik Mykland, by referee Hugh Dallas with a red card of the field.
