Matthias Manasi

Matthias Manasi (born 26 December 1969) is a German conductor and pianist. Manasi is Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Camerata Orchestra Italiana, based in Naples and General Music Director of the International Punta Classic Festival in Punta del Este, Uruguay.

Life

Matthias Manasi studied at the Musikhochschule in Stuttgart with Andrzej Ratusinski piano and conducting at Thomas Ungar. From 1993 to 1995 he studied at the University of Music Karlsruhe piano with Carmen Piazzini. After that studies included in Karl Austrians in Vienna, with Jorma Panula, Helmuth Rilling, Kurt Masur, Georg Tintner and Gianluigi Gelmetti. His official debut as a conductor he was 20 years old at the Wilhelma Theater in Stuttgart with Stravinsky's Histoire du Soldat. In 1994 he assisted Heinz Holliger in a production at Southwest Broadcasting Stuttgart. In 1995 he assisted Manfred Honeck as a coach with Beethoven's C major Mass with the Prague Chamber Choir at the International Bach Academy in Stuttgart.

In November 2009 he accompanied the mezzo-soprano Laura Brioli in a recital on Wagner's Steinway at the Villa Wahnfried in Bayreuth.
