Matthias Manasi
Matthias Manasi (born 26 December 1969) is a German conductor and pianist. Manasi is Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Camerata Orchestra Italiana, based in Naples and General Music Director of the International Punta Classic Festival in Punta del Este, Uruguay.
Life
Matthias Manasi studied at the Musikhochschule in Stuttgart with Andrzej Ratusinski piano and conducting at Thomas Ungar. From 1993 to 1995 he studied at the University of Music Karlsruhe piano with Carmen Piazzini. After that studies included in Karl Austrians in Vienna, with Jorma Panula, Helmuth Rilling, Kurt Masur, Georg Tintner and Gianluigi Gelmetti. His official debut as a conductor he was 20 years old at the Wilhelma Theater in Stuttgart with Stravinsky's Histoire du Soldat. In 1994 he assisted Heinz Holliger in a production at Southwest Broadcasting Stuttgart. In 1995 he assisted Manfred Honeck as a coach with Beethoven's C major Mass with the Prague Chamber Choir at the International Bach Academy in Stuttgart.
He made his debut as an opera conductor at the Moravian-Silesian National Theatre ( Silesian State Theatre ) in Opava, Czech Republic, where he conducted in the 1996/1997 season, Don Giovanni, La Bohème, Un Ballo in Maschera and The Magic Flute. During this time he also worked as a conductor, coach and assistant choir director at the Kiel Opera House. 1998 Matthias Manasi was engaged as a conductor at the Eutin Festival and at the Staatstheater Oldenburg. The Eutiner Festival he conducted the opera La traviata and The Bartered Bride.
In 2002, he conducted Il trovatore, Rigoletto and La traviata at the Opera House Constanta and was conductor's assistant at the Stadttheater Klagenfurt in Alban Berg's opera Lulu. He worked in 2003 with a production of Antonio Vivaldi's Juditha triumphans at the Chamber Opera Schloss Rheinberg. In 2004 he was engaged at the Kassel State Theatre for a production of Don Carlos. In 2005 he was engaged at the Rossini Festival in Bad Wildbad as conductor of Rossini's L' occasione fa il ladro. In 2006 he was engaged by the Bayerische Rundfunk for the project " class classical " with the Munich Radio Orchestra.
In April 2010, Manasi was appointed chief conductor and director of the Camerata Orchestra Italiana in Naples. In April 2010 he conducted the Orchestra Camerata Italiana at the Chiesa di San Bartolomeo in Benevento a performance of the Stabat Mater by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the composer. In January 2011, Manasi headed the International Punta Classic Festival a jury of international soloists from South America new production of the opera La Bohème. The daily newspaper El País spoke of an " ambitious production."

As a guest conductor conducted Manasi orchestras such as the Çukurova Devlet Senfoni Orkestrası in Adana (December 2010), the Punta Classic Festival Orchestra, the Erzgebirge Philharmonie Aue, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Brasov, the Gächinger Kantorei Stuttgart ( Collegiate Church of Stuttgart, 2004), the Bach Collegium Stuttgart ( collegiate Church of Stuttgart, 2004), the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra Olomouc, the Sofia Festival Orchestra, the Polish Chamber Philharmonic, the Philharmonic Orchestra Györ, the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra, the Baden- Baden Philharmonic Orchestra and the Southwest German chamber Orchestra Pforzheim.
Pianist
Manasi is internationally active as a pianist, he played recitals and concerts in the U.S., in Europe, in South America, where he not only aufführte the standard concert repertoire, but also works of contemporary composers such as Leonard Bernstein, Henri Dutilleux, Alfred Schnittke, Tōru Takemitsu and Kazue Sawai. In 2008, he played a recital at the Osborne Theatre in New York, after he had been there with a Gershwin program his U.S. debut as a pianist. In 2007 he played a series of piano recitals in New York City, Washington DC, Silver Spring and Baltimore. In 2006, he appeared as pianist at the Munich Residenz. In 2004 he undertook a concert tour to Ecuador.
As a conductor and pianist, he has performed and worked with singers, instrumentalists and artists such as Laura Brioli, Bernd Weikl, Rebecca Littig, Hartmut Schneider, Boris Kucharsky, Elizaveta Martirosyan, Michael Jelden, Werner Kraus, Gillian Crichton, Tiziana Spagnoletta, Tanya Valentin, Ulrike Mayer, Claudia Koll, Kazue Sawai, Nadja Baldi and Claudio Di Palma.
In November 2009 he accompanied the mezzo-soprano Laura Brioli in a recital on Wagner's Steinway at the Villa Wahnfried in Bayreuth.
