Maussane-les-Alpilles

Maussane -les -Alpilles is a municipality with 2261 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the heart of Provence, between Alpilles, the plains of Crau and the Camargue.

Agriculture is characterized by the cultivation of olives and wine in the Vallée -des- Baux, which are protected by an AOC. The products can often be purchased directly from the producer.

Between Pays Avignonnais, Pays d' Arles- Camargue and Pays d' Aix, to Maussane located at the crossroads of the most beautiful tourist and cultural sites in the region, built with the most precious remnants of cultural heritage, the most famous theater, piano, dance festivals: Saint -Remy- de -Provence, Glanum, Arles, Camargue, Nimes, Avignon, Salon-de -Provence, Aix -en- Provence.

With just over 2,000 residents, the town offers a well-developed infrastructure: 2 grocery stores, 3 bakeries, Provencal weekly market (Thursday), bars 3 / Café, restaurants, hotels, camping, shops with arts and crafts, art galleries, banks, post offices and other social facilities.

Like any other place in this region, has also Maussane its own arena. In this the bloodless bullfights, " Camarguaise Course " will be held.

Despite its proximity to tourist hotspots such as Saint- Rémy -de- Provence, Les Baux -de- Provence is the daily life in the season from Easter to October, only a few days tourists, sitting on the central square in front of the church in the café coined.

The municipality is part of the Regional Natural Park of the Alpilles.
