Max G. Lagally

Max G. Lagally (* 1942) is an American physicist.

Lagally received the B. S. in physics in 1663 at Pennsylvania State University, MS 1965 at the University of Wisconsin- Madison, where he also three years later the Ph.D. made. He was then for two years postdoc at the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society in Berlin. In 1970 he returned to the University of Wisconsin, where he is a professor of physics today.

Lagallys research dealt with structural disorders ( order-disorder states) of surfaces, interfaces and thin films. He also devoted to the study of microscopic mechanisms of crystal growth and the impact on the physical characteristics and the study of phenomena of epitaxy and diffusion on semiconductor surfaces (surface roughness, step structures ).

His work has been cited more than 11,000 times worldwide.
