Maximilian Henry, Count of Wied-Runkel

Maximilian Heinrich of Wied (* May 1, 1681; † December 19, 1706 ) was Count of Wied - Runkel from the noble Runkel.

He was a son of George Hermann Reinhard zu Wied (* 1640, † 1690) and his second wife Johanna Elisabeth of Leiningen - Westerburg (* 1659, † 1708).

From his paternal grandfather, Friedrich " the Elder " of Wied (* 1618, † 1698 ) he received on August 27, 1692, first under guardianship, "Upper County Wied ," including the castle Altwied, the spots Isenburg, the parish Mayscheid and the glory Meud, which had been part of the "Lower County Wied ". He founded there the Younger line of Wied - Runkel.

He entered the service of the Landgrave Ernst Ludwig of Hesse -Darmstadt, where he rose to the rank of Captain.

He married on August 29th 1704 Detmold Sophia Florentina (* September 8, 1683, † April 23, 1758 ), daughter of Count Heinrich Simon of Lippe -Detmold. With her he had two sons:

  • Johann Ludwig Adolf ( * May 30, 1705, † May 18 1762 )
  • Karl Wilhelm Emil Alexander ( born June 19, 1706, the † November 30, 1771 )

It was December 19, 1706 killed in a duel. When Count of Wied - Runkel inherited him his underage son, Johann Ludwig Adolf.
