Maximilianstraße (Nuremberg U-Bahn)

Metro Station Maximilian Street ( Abbreviation: MA ) is the 18th Metro Station of the Nuremberg U- Bahn and was opened on 20 June 1981. It is 722 meters from Eberhardshof Metro Station and 700 meters from the Bärenschanze Metro Station. The Maximilian street was named after King Maximilian II and is part of the middle ring. Where today is the bus station and the striking Savings Bank building stood until 1977, the main administrative building of the Nuremberg - Fürth - tram, the so-called Villa. In the original planning of these Metro Station should receive (analogous to Frankenstraße / Suedring Metro Station ) the name Maximilian Street / Nordwestring.

Location

The station is located in the district of Nuremberg Seeleinsbühl and extends below the ground in east-west direction at the Fürth Road between Beck and Maximilian street. From the eastern station head an output executes in a distribution of levels and from there to the south and north side of Fürth street, from the west station head performs an output in a distribution of levels below the junction Fürth / Maximilian Street and from there to all four corners of the intersection and to the bus station Maximilian street. In addition, there is a lift from the platform level of the pedestrian zone on the south side of the road Fürth.

In the vicinity of the station are the Higher Regional and District Court of Nuremberg and the Landgericht Nürnberg- Fürth.

Building and Architecture

The station building is 210 m long, 17 m wide and 7.5 m deep ( one and a half times the down position). Construction of the station began on February 5, 1979, were carried out in an open design with Berlin wall.

The characteristic color of the station is green. The tiled with ceramic tiles platform walls from top of rail to the platform edge white and then colored in green with interruption by the white band with the held station names written in black. In the western distributor basement a stylized sculpture of an eagle was let into the building wall.

Lines

The station is served by lines U1 and U11. A bus station is located on the surface with connections to the city bus lines 35, 38 and 39 runs at the weekend and the night bus N9.
