May J.

May Hashimoto (Japanese桥本 芽 生, Hashimoto Mei, born June 20, 1988 in Yokohama, Japan ) is a Japanese R & B and pop singer, on stage, she is known by her pseudonym J. May.

Life and career

May's mother has presumptive manner Iranian ancestry and her father is Japanese. In the J- Melo result of 23 June 2013 ( J- Melo in Turkey Part 2) she said that she was a part of Turkish. The J in her stage name is from a Persian girl name that means Jamileh and as much as is beautifully derived. Hashimoto learned Farsi not in their early childhood. At first, she saw herself as a descendant of Americans until they learned during a conversation between her mother and her grandmother, that their ancestors came from Iran. In the later course of their school years, she also conducted research in Persian music and listened to music of Googoosh and Afshin. She commented later that she hopes to debut in Iran. Since her childhood, she enjoys listening to artists such as Christina Aguilera and Whitney Houston, also won in a double -Contest by MTV, where she coverte Avril Lavigne.

At 14, she signed her first recording contract with Sony Music Entertainment Japan and published on 12 July 2006 her first extended play, which was called All My Girls. The album was recorded as a mixture of the styles of Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce and Rihanna, from the record company Neosite discs, a hip- hop sub- label Ki / oon Records, which is a sub- label of Sony Music Japan, marketed. It was also rangehängt that this style in Japan never existed.

Since October 2008 she also moderates, only with Shanti Snyder, the weekly English show J- Melo, which is broadcast by NHK World. In March 2010, May J., it was decided to leave it alone moderate. The album stayed for more than 25 weeks in the Japanese Oricon charts, making it her first album with such a long stay in the Japanese charts. In addition, it sold more than 40,000 times, thus making it as their most successful album since Family (2009) makes. In March 2013, it published with Flo Rida a remake of the hit sweet spot, which was originally a duet with Jennifer Lopez. The song was released digitally, however, and only in Japan. Finally, she also released her first cover album on June 19, 2013, entitled Summer Ballad cover. It sold in the first week, 46 418 times and made it their most successful sales week ever, finally broke after just four weeks, the 100,000 mark, making it their most successful album. You coverte popular Japanese ballads like Precious by Yuna Ito or First Love Utada Hikaru.
