Mayor of Castile

Munia Mayor ( * 990/5; † after June 13, 1066) was Countess of Castile and Queen of Navarre.

Life

Munia was the eldest daughter of Sancho García, Count of Castile and his wife Urraca. She married Sancho III. the Great, King of Navarre. In 1024 they took the name Mayor. After her brother García Sánchez, Count of Castile the murder, she followed in 1029 in Castile. Your husband Sancho occupied the county of Castile and the adjacent areas to Cea and Pisuerga in León. After the death of Sancho his property was divided, the eldest illegitimate son Ramiro was the King of Aragon.
