Mbandzeni

Mbandzeni (also known as Dlamini IV). (* 1855, † October 7, 1889 ) was King of Swaziland 1875-1889 He was the son of Mswati II His brother Ludvonga II was determined by the father as his successor, but died, before he became king.

Dlamini's rule was recognized by the South African Republic. In return, he missed large areas of its territory to white immigrants. As a result, the land was scarce and some native Swazi lived then outside their home country in the present province of Mpumalanga.

During his reign, the first Boer War took place and his country was annexed by the British Empire. These conflicts began with the discovery of significant gold mineralization at Piggs Peak and Forbes Reef, which attracted many Europeans and others from Mpumalanga.

Mbandzeni died in 1889 and his son Bhunu took power.
