Méav Ní Mhaolchatha

Méav Natalie Aoife Siobhan Ní Mhaolchatha ( born January 26, about 1971 in Donnybrook, County Dublin, Ireland) is an Irish singer who sings mainly Irish folk. She was a founding member of the group Celtic Woman. She sings in English, Irish, French and Latin.

Life

Méav attended a school where she was taught in Irish. She studied four years at Trinity College, completed her studies with a degree in Law. Subsequently, she earned a qualification in arts administration and organized for a music network cultural events.

Music career

From 1994 to 1998 Méav was a member of the Irish Chamber Choir Anúna. With Anúna she went on international tours and recorded four albums: Omnis, Deep Dead Blue and Behind the Closed Eye. A compilation of her work as a soloist in the choir was published in 2006 under the name Celtic Dreams. They then toured as a soloist with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra in the USA. They also toured with Lord of the Dance by South Africa and gave concerts in Japan and South Korea.

With the other members of Celtic Woman 2004 Méav gained by founding great fame. She sang Celtic Woman, A Christmas Celebration, and A New Journey. 2005 Méav left the group because of her pregnancy until the birth of her first daughter. She then returned for the recording of the CD and DVD from New Journey and toured with the group in 2006 and by the USA and Japan. She sings on The Greatest Journey.

After the 2007 recorded by Celtic Woman Christmas DVD from The Helix Méav left Celtic Woman to focus on her solo career. She has given several solo concerts in New England.

In 2009, she returned with an appearance on the stage in their hometown of Dublin, and was praised by critics while high. In the same year she has her second daughter Catherine brought into the world and recorded "Where the Sunbeams Play" for the Disney film Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure.

In 2010 she was a special guest at Celtic Órla Fallon's Christmas concert in Nashville. She sang with her in the duet Do You Hear What I Hear? and O Holy Night solo accompanied by the harp. She also sang the final song Here We Come A- wassailing with the entire choir and the American star singer David Archuleta and Vince Gill. This concert was broadcast on PBS and released on CD and DVD.

Méav sang at the concert of world music in Chambord Castle called Divina with Yulia Townsend and Israeli singer Rita. Méav who also worked as a guest soloist at the Christmas album Home for Christmas of Celtic Woman. This was the first collaboration since she had left the group in 2007. Méav has the TV Special Quest: Beyond the Stars recorded in January 2012 at Abbey Road Studios. In the fall of 2013 her new solo album The Calling at Warner Music to be published.

Family

Méav is married. She has two daughters named Anna and Catherine.
