Melchior Bürgin

Melchior Rudolf guarantor ( born October 17, 1943 in Eptingen ) is a former Swiss rower.

Melchior guarantor rowed for Grasshopper Club Zurich. He won the double sculls with Martin Studach at the European Championships 1964 bronze medal behind the boats from the Soviet Union and the United Kingdom. At the Olympic Games in 1964 also won the boat from the Soviet Union. Behind the boats from the United States and Czechoslovakia rowed guarantor and Studach to fourth place.

1965 began a three-year winning streak of the two Swiss. They won the title at the European Championships in Duisburg in 1965, at the World Championships 1966 in Bled and at the European Championships 1967 in Vichy. At the 1968 Olympic Games on the regatta course in Xochimilco in Mexico City Studach suffered in the lead just before the finish circulatory collapse and ended as a consequence of his rowing career. As a substitute, the Swiss drew one rower Hans Ruckstuhl in the double sculls. Guarantor and Ruckstuhl qualified through the repechage for the semifinals. There she missed almost the finals and then occupied in the B-final second last place. Four years later guarantor reached at the 1972 Olympic Games once again an Olympic Final and finished third in the one sixth.

Melchior guarantor was later coach of the Swiss rower.
