Melissa, Calabria
Melissa is a southern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 3631 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Crotone in Calabria. The community is located about 26.5 kilometers north- west of Crotone on the Ionian Sea. The northwestern boundary of the parish is the Lipuda.
History
Melissa is first mentioned in the 13th century. 1949, three young men were shot dead by the police. The event is known as the Strage di Melissa.

Through the community, the Strada Statale 106 Ionica runs (also E90) along the coastline.

Melissa has two intra- Italian partnerships with communities Gattatico in the province of Reggio Emilia and Pedesina in the province of Sondrio.
