Métabief

Métabief is a commune with 1088 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Doubs and in the region of Franche -Comté.

The importance of the municipality lies mainly in tourism and especially in winter sports. Around the old town center numerous holiday homes and residential complexes have been built with apartments in recent years. In the south, the municipality a chair lift to the mountain Morond, from there descents are possible in winter. In the summer of departure slope of downhill cyclists is used here also walks to the Mont d'Or are possible. 1993 Métabief hosted the Mountain Bike World Championships.

Local specialties

The culinary specialties in particular have to do with the cheese, which is produced in the cheese factory at the site. Spreads are the varieties Comté, Morbier Mont d' Or and the preparations and fondue and raclette.
