Michael J. Kennedy

Michael Joseph Kennedy ( born October 25, 1897 in New York City; † November 1, 1949 in Washington DC ) was an American politician. Between 1939 and 1943 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Michael Joseph Kennedy was born shortly before the end of the 19th century in New York City. He attended the Sacred Heart Parochial School. Between 1914 and 1921 he worked as a Receptionist ( hotel clerk ) in a hotel. Then he worked 1921-1923 as a clerk in the New York City Board of Elections. Between 1923 and 1938 he served as a U.S. Marshal in New York City. He went after 1939 insurance business. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party.

In the congressional elections of 1938 for the 76th Congress Kennedy was the 15th electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of John J. Boylan on January 4, 1939. After a successful re-election to the 77th Congress he resigned in 1942 to run again and was eliminated after 3 January 1943, the Congress of.

After his conference time he went to New York City back to insurance transactions. On November 1, 1949, he died in a plane crash (Eastern Air Lines Flight 537) in the immediate vicinity of the Washington National Airport. His remains were then buried at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
