Michael J. Kopetski

Michael Joseph "Mike" Kopetski (born 27 October 1949 in Pendleton, Oregon) is an American politician. Between 1991 and 1995 he represented the fifth electoral district of the state of Oregon in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Michael Kopetski attended the public schools of his native land and from then until 1971, the American University. Then he studied until 1978 at the Northwestern School of Law at Lewis & Clark College law. He became a member of the Democratic Party. From 1973 to 1974 he was a member of a committee of the U.S. Senate, who examined the campaign activities of the presidential elections.

In 1976 Kopetski was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention, was nominated on the Jimmy Carter as a presidential candidate of the party. From 1977 to 1979, and again in 1981, he was employed by the administration of the Parliament of Oregon as Committee Administrator. Between 1981 and 1984 he was a consultant for labor and education issues from 1985 to 1989, he belonged to the House of Representatives from Oregon as a deputy.

In the years 1982 and 1988, he ran unsuccessfully for each U.S. House of Representatives. 1990 Kopetski was then elected to Congress. There he broke on 3 January 1991 from Denny Smith, whom he had defeated in the elections. After a re-election in 1992, he was able to exercise his mandate until January 3, 1995. In Congress he was a member of the Committee on Ways and Means. In 1994, he opted not to run again.

After his political activity in Washington Kopetski became an international trade consultant. Today he is on the board of the software company On2 Technologies.
