Michael Kidd-Gilchrist

Michael Kidd - Gilchrist ( born September 26, 1993 as Michael Gilchrist in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States) is an American professional NBA basketball player. He plays the position of Small Forwards.

High school career

When he played for the St. Patrick's High School in New Jersey, he was one of the best basketball players of his age in the United States. In July 2010 he won the U-17 national team's World Cup in Hamburg.

College career

On 14 April 2011, he announced that he would play in the 2011/12 season for the University of Kentucky. In his first game at college, he made 15 points against the Marist Red Foxes. His first double-double he achieved in the game against arch-rivals, the North Carolina Tar Heels with 17 points and 11 rebounds. In the 2011/12 season he won the NCAA Final Four tournament along with Anthony Davis and Marquis Teague.

Pro career

In April 2012, he signed up to NBA Draft 2012. On June 28, he was drafted in the second place of the Charlotte Bobcats. Less than two months after his 19th birthday, he scored a victory against the Dallas Mavericks on November 10, 2012 with 25 points and 12 rebounds his first double-double in the NBA. Only one player succeeded the earlier. At the age of only 18 years, this was LeBron James. In his second NBA game on October 30, 2012 ( in Phoenix) get him 21 points, 12 rebounds. Also on November 29 against Memphis ( 33 points, 16 rebounds ) and on December 20 in Chicago (32 points and 10 rebounds ), he was still under 20

Others

Kidd - Gilchrist's father, Michael Gilchrist Sr., was a former college basketball player and was shot dead on 11 August 1996. On July 7, 2011 Michael explained that he had his name changed in honor of his late uncle Darrin Kidd, Kidd - Gilchrist officially. The former NBA player Dajuan Wagner is Kidd - Gilchrist's cousin.
