Michael Kurt

Michael " Mike" Kurt ( born April 2, 1980 in Sumiswald ) is a Swiss canoeist. He drives canoe slalom with the One - kayak.

1998 Kurt second at the Junior World Championships in Lofer and became the first Swiss ever an individual medal in this discipline; at the same place was a silver medal in the team competition added. The same placements will be reached in the following year, also in Lofer. In 2000 he won at the elite European Championships in Mezzana bronze. In Augsburg he became world champion in 2003 with the team, in 2004 he won in Skopje, also with the team, the European champion.

At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens Kurt managed almost a sensation. He won superior to the qualifying heats, then failed but in the semifinals and retired. In 2006, he finished second at the World University Championships in Krakow. In the 2007 season, he reached the second place, the best finish ever in a Swiss Canoe Slalom World Cup.

The nine-time Swiss champion Kurt lives in Wiedlisbach, starts for the club Solothurn kayakers and is a qualified business economist.
