Michel Qissi

Michel Qissi ( born September 12, 1962 in Oujda, Morocco Mohammed Qissi ) is an American actor, director, screenwriter and stunt man of Moroccan origin.

Short Biography

At the age of seven years, Michel Qissi began boxing training. Soon after, he met the young Jean -Claude van Varenberg (Jean -Claude Van Damme ), who exercised at that time Shotokan Karate; The two grew up together, became good friends and shared in their fighting techniques among themselves.

1982 went Qissi together with van Damme to Hollywood to begin a career as an actor in action films. Her breakthrough they had then 1986.

After both had received an interview with Menahem Golan of Cannon Films, they were able to secure appearances in three films, one of which was the first of the highly successful strip Bloodsport.

In Cyborg (1989 ) Qissi worked as a personal trainer van dam, but had itself no appearance in this film. In Kickboxer (1989 ) Qissi worked as a choreographer. When he overheard by chance, as the production team said they needed a large, oriental -looking actor who familiar with Muay Thai, he offered himself for the role of Tong Po, and then got them too. Michel Qissi had already years earlier studied in Thailand Muay Thai.

Qissis last film with Jean -Claude Van Damme was Leon (1990 ), in which he plays a legionary who van Damme will return to the military. He then returned to his role as Tong Po in the sequel Kickboxer 2 (1991).
