Michele Didoni

Michele Didoni ( born March 7, 1974 in Milan ) is an Italian former athlete. At a height of 1.78 m his competition weight was 71 kg.

Michele Didoni 1993 was European Junior Champion in the 10,000 m track walking. At the European Indoor Championships in 1994 was over 5000 meters in fourth. Outdoors he was tenth in 1994 in a 20 km Walk at the European Championships. On the 20 - km route, he was then the next few years at every major event at the start.

He achieved his greatest success with the age of 21 at the 1995 World Championships in Gothenburg. Two kilometers before the finish was the top group of Didoni, the Spaniard Valenti Massana and the Mexicans Daniel García. Massana fell back first. 250 meters before the finish García was taken by the Gehrichtern out of the race and won in 1:19:59 h Didoni well before Massana.

In the following years Didoni could not build on this success. At the world championships 1997 he finished seventh. This was followed in eleventh place at the European Championships in 1998, tenth place at the 1999 World Championships and eleventh at the Olympic Games 2000.

Didoni started as a sports soldier for sports promotion group athletics of the Carabinieri in Bologna.
