The Mid-Western Highway is a highway in the center of the Australian state of New South Wales. It connects the Great Western Highway to Bathurst with the Cobb Highway at Hay.
Course
The Mid - Western Highway branches off into Bathurst from the Great Western Highway ( R32) to west - southwest. In Cowra, where the Olympic Highway (R41 ) and the Lachlan Valley Way ( S81 ) open, he crossed the Lachlan River and turns westward. In Grenfell he crosses the Henry Lawson Way and runs 9 km along with it further west. He crossed the Weddin Mountains and reaches Marsden Newell Highway ( N39 ).
This together he runs in a southwesterly direction to West Wyalong, where it branches off to the west again. From West Wyalong from the Mid- Western Highway describes a flat, wide arc to the southwest by wide pastures and exceeds 250 km further to the north bank of the Murrumbidgee River. A few kilometers further he meets in Hay on the Cobb Highway ( R75 ) and ends.
Importance
The Mid - Western Highway is part of the shortest road link between Sydney and Adelaide. Although since expansion of the Hume Highway ( N31 ) is the preferred route between the two capitals leads on this and the Sturt Highway ( N20) This route via Wagga Wagga is located 20 km but to ride faster longer because of the higher quality of construction condition.
