Middleburg Heights is a city in Cuyahoga County in the U.S. state of Ohio. It is located 18.3 km south west of Cleveland, close to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, is 8.09 square miles ( 20.94 km ²) in size and had (2000) 15,542 inhabitants, of which 94.6 % White.

Geography

The urban area is situated immediately west of West 130th Street and extends on both sides of Interstate 71, the highway from Cleveland to Columbus. Neighboring municipalities are Brook Park in the north, Parma Heights and Parma in the east, Strongsville in the south and Berea in the West. The airport is about six kilometers northwest of the city.

The highway divides the city into two halves. On the west side, industrial parks and forests extend, on the east side comparatively loosened residential areas. In the northeast corner is the Southland Shopping Centre, a large retail zone.

History

Middleburg Heights goes back to the Middleburg Township, which had been marked out in the course of surveying the Connecticut Western Reserve. From 1850 founded initially Berea, Brook Park and 1914, then from. In order to prevent the incorporation of the remaining townships by neighboring communities, the rest of the township in 1928 was followed finally as Middleburg Heights.

The area remained until shortly after the Second World War rural. It was not until the opening of the Southland Shopping Center ( 1950) and the Motorway (1959 ) was the population of (1940 ) 1225 rise to (1970 ) 12,367, and finally today's news.
