Mikkel Bischoff, who was born to a Danish mother and a Kenyan father on the Danish island of Amager, began at Kjøbenhavns Bold club to play soccer. Later he went to the youth of Fremad Amager before he went in 2001 to AB Copenhagen, where he played at times even further in youth.

In 2002 he went abroad and changed for 750,000 pounds sterling to Manchester City. On September 15, 2002 ( 6th Round ), he completed a 2-2 draw against Blackburn Rovers his first league game, but was replaced in the 61st minute for Danny Tiatto, leaving only seven minutes later with a red card the field had. This remained his only game for the Citizens due to many injuries. End of September 2004 he was giving for a month at the Wolverhampton Wanderers, after the end of the loan period, this was extended for another month. On 6 November, he scored his sixth and penultimate league game for the Wolves against Nottingham Forest shortly before half-time the decisive 2-1 victory. After seven games, it went for him back to Manchester. But already on 24 March 2005, he returned to Wolverhampton, when he was given two more months at the club. But after only four league games, the loan was already over. Only a year later, in March 2006, he was awarded again to a club, this time at Sheffield Wednesday. But since this loan was limited to only a month, he completed only four games for the Owls.

On 12 June 2006 he moved to Coventry City, where he signed a contract until June 2008. However, after only three brief appearances, he moved in January 2007 free transfer back to his home to Brøndby IF. There he won with his team the Danish Football Cup in 2008, when they defeated the team Esbjerg fB in the final 3-2.
