Ministry of the Interior (Turkey)

The Ministry of Interior of Turkey is a ministry of the Republic of Turkey. The proper name is Türkiye Cumhuriyeti İçişleri Bakanlığı, Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Turkey. Previous names were Dahiliye Vekâleti and Dahiliye Nezareti. Currently, the Authority is led by Efkan Ala. Seat is Ankara.

The Home Office had its precursor in the Ottoman Empire in the office of the Grand Vizier ( Sadrazam ).

Today's Ministry of the Interior is responsible for internal security, civil status and incident reporting and the supervision of the authorities. The Minister of the Interior subject to the police, the Jandarma, the Turkish Coast Guard ( Sahil Güvenlik Komutanlığı ), the provincial administrations and subordinate administrations ( Ilce and Bucak ).
