Geography

Mintraching is located about 17 km south-east of Regensburg.

History

Mintraching

The place Mintraching was first mentioned in 768 as Muntrihhinga. However, it also traces of settlement of the oldest farming culture in Central Europe were discovered here. When Herzogenmühle traces of a Roman villa rustica were found. It was settled by Bavarians ( the ending-ing means that there Germanic tribes permanently settled ). According to documents from the year 1148 the place belonged to the monastery Niederaltaich. The monastery remained until the secularisation of 1803 important landowner in the village.

Incorporations

On 1 May 1978, the formerly independent communities Mangolding, Moosham incorporated ( with the eingemeindeten in 1945 or 1946 Location Tiefbrunn ) and Sengkofen area and parts of the municipalities Koefering and Rosenhof were.

Coat of arms

Blazon: Shield split of gold and red, a green front Three mountain in the sign, behind a silver oblique beams. The coat of arms is conducted since 1953. The coat of arms is composed of the two arms of the lords of ehemealigen Mintraching. The high crest pin, a silver oblique beams in the red field, is derived from the bishop of Regensburg and the green Sigirich Three mountain in golden field of the Benedictines of derAbtei Niederaltaich.

Culture and sights

Churches

  • The center Mintraching is the parish church of St. Mauritius (built in the late 17th century ) and the Chapel of St. Leonhard (built in the plague year of 1713) coined. The parish church from the 18th century and has some classical features ( side altars of 1730 ) and a mirrored ceiling. In addition to the high altar are the recent figures of St. John Nepomuk and St. Francis Xavier from the Baroque period. Also noteworthy are the wooden figures of the 18th century. 1922 created the painter Josef Wittmann a fresco cycle.
  • The Pilgrimage Church of St. Mary in scouring of the Gothic period has features of Baroque and Rococo periods.

Traffic

The Mangolding railway station is on the railway line Regensburg -Passau. He is pure Betriebsbahnhof: The trains do not stop to entry and exit.
