Miyabiyama Tetsushi

Miyabiyama Tetsushi (Japanese雅 山 哲士, prop, Masato Takeuchi (竹 内 雅人), born July 28, 1977 in Mito, Ibaraki Prefecture ) is a former Japanese sumo wrestler.

Career

As a former high school athlete Miyabiyama began his career in Profisumō in the special ranking makushita Tsukedashi in makushita Division. In this and the parent juryo division he has already won two tournaments before in the Makuuchi division debuted in March 1999 and worked up a relatively straight line. In 2000, he was already sanyaku and could deliver a number of promising results, so that he was promoted to ozeki in the summer of. At this time he was sometimes acted as the future yokozuna.

But already in his first basho in the new rank Miyabiyama could only reach a make- koshi of 6-9, and his tournament results were rather poor for an ozeki, to a ankle injury heralded the final descent. He also had to undergo surgery because of a chronic problem with his right shoulder, so that he was above two tournaments and then found again maegashira. Since then he usually is among the top of this rank. Partly kachi- koshi high have several times brought him back under the sanyaku ranks; its been missing ability to continuously deliver a reasonable performance this state, but let him sooner or later fall back again and again.

In its early Miyabiyama was a very powerful rikishi, for some time, his strength and speed but have taken. Instead, he has to put on body fat percentage. He himself is very bulky for a sumo wrestler.

In the meantime, it looked as if Miyabiyama could tie back to his old performances. A 10-5 as komusubi in March 2006, he could be followed by another strong tournament and 14-1 finish what it offered an opportunity to be promoted with another good result back to ozeki. But there was only enough for a 10-5. Although he had the tournament in Nagoya computationally enough victories achieved (10 ) in order to be able to ozeki, but promotion was not pronounced. His performances took in the following years continued to fall, he sank into mediocrity the sekitori and rose from between the juryo Division. Once again he held the rank of komusubi in January 2012, he could hardly after more than 5 wins per tournament reach and eventually rose after the Hatsu Basho 2013 again in juryo Division from. When he relegation calculated, as No. 9 of Juryo Division East, barely able to escape after a 3-12 result in the Haru Basho in Osaka in 2013, he announced after the last day of the tournament, where he still was able to record a victory that he his career in the makushita no longer wants to continue and thus recedes. He is as Futagoyama - Oyakata further members of the Sumōverband.
