Moab is a place and the administrative seat of Grand County in the U.S. state of Utah.

Geography

The town is located south of the Colorado River at a height of 1227 m ( 4,025 feet) above sea level on the Colorado Plateau, and covers an area of ​​9.4 km ² (3.6 mi ²). In the vicinity are the Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park and Dead Horse Point State Park small. History

Moab is probably derived from the biblical landscape of Moab from, but also jokingly interpreted as an acronym for Mormons, Ores, Artists and Bicycles, whereby the activities of the surrounding area of the city are described from the past to the present: Moab was founded by the Mormons, then there were mines uranium ore (English ore means ore) mined.
