Model European Parliament

In the Model European Parliament (MEP; engl. Model European Parliament ), there is a plan and role play, simulate the European Parliament for the student. The conferences will be held with the same structure in many European countries, the national organizations working here in the International Foundation Model European Parliament together with its headquarters in The Hague.

For national model European Parliament in Germany traveling to thirteenth grade level from each state to Berlin to represent there as a delegate their assigned EU country for a week, eight students of the ninth.

After the delegations were welcomed and introduced themselves (this was in the last years of the Federal Press Office held ), the committee's work begins. Each of the eight delegates per EU country is a member of a committee. The committees have 16 members so each and are led by two committee chairmen. This committee chairmen are even students who have been in the previous simulation, the year prior to the meeting taking place week, successfully participated and selected by their former committee chairman. The committees deal with different political problems and issues. Task of the delegates is to work out a resolution of the problem and possible solutions are presented.

The plenary session (last time in the Bundesrat ) is conducted by the Bureau. The Bureau shall be composed of three former, successful in their management committee working committee chairman. The aim of the committees at the plenary session is to explain its resolutions, to defend them in debate and achieve that is true in the following on the pronunciation of the majority of the delegates voting for the resolution of the Committee. For the plenary session very specific rules as rules of procedure, an exact sequence of speeches and an open debate. A resolution was adopted, it is passed to the European Parliament, the European Commission and the Council of the European Union.

The first MEP.de conference took place in 2000, since then a conference is held annually.

The eleventh MEP session in Germany took place from 22 to 27 February 2010 in Berlin. The eight committees prepared current European issues of economic on energy issues, to integrative and ecological problem areas.

Since 2002, national meetings of the MEP in Austria found, organized by the Theresa Academy in Vienna instead. Twice a year there is a pan-European " Model European Parliament " in a major European city. At that come from each EU member country and from some candidate states five delegates, who are spread over ten committees.
