Mole-Creek-Karst-Nationalpark

The Mole Creek Karst National Park (English: Mole Creek Karst National Park ) is a national park on the island belonging to Australia and Tasmania is located about 168 km north- west of Hobart. It is the only National Park in Tasmania, which was specially created to protect karst areas.

The two most famous caves are the Marakoopa Cave and King Solomons Cave. Both caves are open to visitors and provide an insight into this karst landscape. The Fireflies in the Marakoopa Cave are one of the largest observable in Australia populations. In addition to these two larger caves, there are about 300 caves and sink-holes more.

The area around the Mole Creek is not only known for its caves, but also for its canyons, underground water systems and sources. Guided tours through caves and forests are offered.

Main article: Mole Creek In this area lies the small town of Mole Creek, which is located about 25 km from Deloraine. The village has 223 inhabitants and provides a starting point for hikes in the national park. The village has an apiary, which offers a wide variety of honeys and accommodation facilities.
