Monabbih District

Munabbih Arab مديرية منبه is the name of a Yemeni tribe and the district, the inhabited this tribe in the province Sa'da. The area is very difficult to achieve. The population operates predominantly subsistence economy. It is more prone to familial autonomy than the population of neighboring districts, such as the population of the district Razih. 2003 51.823 inhabitants were counted. This number is likely to have changed significantly by the unrest of the operation Scorched Earth ( عملية الأرض المحروقة ).

Architecture

The houses are built of dry- laid, rough-hewn slate. White ornamental stones are used for architectural decoration. The possibility of defense is a major construction project in the area. Therefore, the houses are built castellated. There are larger windows only in the upper floors, while the ground floor narrow loopholes and vents are attached.
