Mõniste Parish

Mõniste ( German: Menzen ) is a rural municipality in the Estonian county Võru with an area of ​​174.8 km ². It has 928 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011).

Mõniste located 45 km from Võru and Valga away. It is the southernmost municipality of Estonia. The village was first mentioned in documents in 1386. In addition to the main town Mõniste (251 inhabitants) includes the rural community of the villages Hürova, Hüti, Kallaste, Karisöödi, Koemetsa, Kuutsi, Parmupalu, Peebu, Sakurgi, Saru, Singa, Tiitsa, Tundu, Tursa, Vastse - Roosa and Villike.

57% of the municipal area is covered by forest. Forests, lakes and rivers invite nature lovers for hiking and canoeing. Worth seeing is the Museum of Kuutsi founded in 1948 on the South Estonian village life in the 19th century.
