Monsieur de Pourceaugnac

Monsieur de Pourceaugnac ( German Lord of Pourceaugnac ) is a ballet comedy in three acts by the French poet Molière, with music by Jean -Baptiste Lully. The premiere of the Pierre Beauchamp contributed the choreography, took place on October 6, 1669 in Chambord castle to King Louis XIV and his court, the public premiere on 15 November of the same year at the Palais Royal in Paris.

Action

Pourceaugnac is a fictional Occitan place name, derived from " Pourceau " ( " pig "). Lord of Pourceaugnac is with Julie, the daughter of the old Oronte, engaged. Without knowledge Pourceaugnacs Julie fell in love with the young and attractive Eraste. To avoid the unwanted arranged marriage, the two lovers to Sbrigani, a crafty rogue from Naples who helps with the help of numerous tricks and Julie Eraste to their marital bliss turns. As two women claim of Mr. Pourceaugnac was their husband and father of her numerous children, the protagonist tries to escape dressed as a woman in the face of an accusation of polygamy. Now lets Sbrigani Oronte believe, Lord of Pourceaugnac have kidnapped his daughter, whereupon Eraste occurs as a " guardian angel ", and can marry his Julie with the blessing of the Orontes.
