Montebenedetto Charterhouse

The Certosa di Montebene Benedetto was founded as a monastery of the Carthusian monks at the beginning of the 13th century, near the small village of Villar Focchiardo in the lower Susa Valley ( northern Italian region of Piedmont). The monks settled in the late 15th century to the lower altitudes Certosa di Banda.

The entire complex is currently being restored. The Romanesque church, which also has gothic elements by later extensions is to visit again already. It houses a standing exhibition on the Carthusians and the monasteries Montebene Benedetto and Banda.
