Montel Vontavious Porter

Alvin Burke Jr. ( born October 28, 1973 in Miami, Florida, USA), better known by his ring name Montel Vontavious Porter, or MVP, is an American professional wrestler. He is currently in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling under contract. His biggest success was the two-time receipt of the WWE United States Champion title.

Career

Burke was sentenced in 1990 for armed robbery and kidnapping to 18 years in prison, but was released for good behavior in 1999. Through a jailer, who practiced wrestling in the independent scene, he started wrestling. Early in his career, he performed under the name Antonio Banks in various independent leagues, including Coastal Championship Wrestling, Future Of Wrestling and Xtreme Wrestling Alliance, in which he was allowed to win the heavyweight championship title. SmackDown!

After his release, Burke denied 8 January 2011 his first match in the Puerto Rican independent wrestling scene at World Wrestling Council.

In early February, it was announced that Burke has signed a one -year contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling ( NJPW short ). He was 20 February 2011 and won his debut on May 15, 2011, the newly introduced IWGP Intercontinental Championship when he defeated Toru Yano in the finals of a tournament. The title he lost 10 October 2011 at Masato Tanaka. In NJPW, he appeared to January 2013.

Return to Total Nonstop Action Wrestling
