Morini

Morini (Latin Morini ) is the name of a Celtic tribe.

The Morini were western neighbors of the Menapii. The Morini lived in the then sümpfigen and wooded coastal area between present-day Dunkirk and Le Touquet- Paris -Plage. This area, between the rivers Aa and Canche corresponds roughly to the present-day French Pas- de -Calais.

They were subjected to the year 53 BC by Julius Caesar. Their territory was thus absorbed into the Roman Empire. A riot of them ( 30-29 BC) was defeated by the Romans.

Your Civitas was Taruenna, today Therouanne (Dutch Terwaan ) about 20 km south of Saint- Omer. The port city of Bononia, now Boulogne -sur -Mer, also belonged to their area.
