Moritz Fürstenau

Moritz Ludwig Ignaz Franz Carl August Fuerstenau ( born July 26, 1824 in Dresden, † March 27, 1889 ) was a German flutist and music historian.

Life

Fuerstenau was the son of composer Anton Bernhard Fuerstenau, from which he also received his first musical instruction. At the age of eight he joined in 1832 for the first time publicly, and since that time he undertook repeatedly toured extensively.

At the request of the Saxon King Friedrich August III. Fuerstenau 1842 got a permanent position at the Dresden court orchestra as a flutist. In 1844 he was promoted to the royal ". Chamber musician ".

The following year, Fuerstenau undertook to take flute lessons a long study trip to Munich there at Theobald Boehm; he had developed a special flute, which wanted to introduce Fuerstenau at the Dresden court. Friedrich Troestler and Fuerstenau 1856 were the first teachers at the newly founded private conservatory. In addition to composition, he was there for the most part flute lessons.

After the war of 1870 Fuerstenau was slow on all offices and retired into private life.
