Morpho polyphemus ( White Morpho English = "White Morpho " ) is a butterfly ( butterfly ) of the family Nymphalidae ( Nymphalidae ).

Description

The moths reach a wingspan of up to 14 cm. In contrast to most other species of the genus Morpho they do not have blue, but a white base color, which is interrupted only by a few black brown spots, these include the upper wing tips, the spots in the center of the upper wing and the translucent series eyespots on the edge of Under the wing.

Occurrence

M. polyphemus is found in Central America. The southern limit of distribution is Costa Rica, the northern Mexico.

Biology

The caterpillars feed on plants of the genus Inga and Paullinia pinnata.
