Móstoles
Móstoles is a suburb of Madrid, located about 18 kilometers south-west of it. With 206 451 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013) is the second largest city in the Autonomous Community of Madrid, the area is 45 km ².
The city is dominated by the industry. The economic basis form the metal-working industry, the construction industry, services, agriculture and livestock. The urban area is also the main campus of the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos ( King Juan Carlos University). With Madrid Móstoles is connected by the Cercanías suburban line (line C -5 by Atocha station to Fuenlabrada ), line 12 of the Metro Madrid and the highway.
Móstoles gained notoriety when, on 2 May 1808 Andrés Torrejón, one of the mayor, declared war on France, sparking a rebellion against Napoleon's troops. A statue on the Pradillo Square commemorates this event.
