Mudug

Mudug (Arabic مدق Muduq ) is a region in central Somalia. Your north and west is part of the internationally unrecognized Puntland, the southern part of Galmudug is claimed.

The capital of Mudug is Gaalkacyo. Two other important cities in this region are Goldogob and the coastal town of Hobyo. This region is bordered on the south by the neighboring region of Galguduud and to the north by Nugaal. To the west is Ethiopia and to the east is the Indian Ocean. Mudug has an area of ​​72,933 km ² and around 738,000 inhabitants.

The residents of Mudug mainly belong to the Somali clans of the Hawiye and Darod.
