Mulcey

Mulcey is a commune with 219 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district of Château- Salins and Canton Dieuze.

Geography

The municipality is located on the upper Mulcey seille, west of Linder pond ( Etang de Lindre ) at an altitude 201-307 m above sea level. The 8.34 km ² comprehensive municipality is part of the Regional Natural Park of Lorraine.

History

The village was in the Middle Ages temporarily imperial possession and was mentioned in 1191 as Milzeche, then Miltzingen ( 1478). 1915-18 and 1940-44, it was the Germanized name Milzingen.
