Munchausen in Africa is a German comedy film from 1958 with Peter Alexander as the main character. Premiere was on 17 July 1958 at the cinema Lichtenburg in Essen. The film was later under the title of Our drummer is shown the best.

Action

Peter von Munchausen works as a music teacher at a private girls' school. With his famous ancestor, the legendary Baron Lies, he has not much in common. After a crazy, music performance during Geography lesson Peter will be dismissed from the school principal.

With some of his composed pieces of music, Peter would like to present at a TV station and ends up, through a mix up in the live broadcast of a television program in which he is presented as an expert on African music. With a lot of musical skill, Peter can get out of this terminal and flee the TV studio again.

But his TV appearance brings him a new job in one of the best-selling author Karla Mai. Peter they should accompany her son Carlie and her secretary Josefine as a tour guide in Africa. Background

The two month long shooting took place around Nairobi and Arusha in Kenya and Tanzania. As always, during the filming of Peter Alexander's wife and manager Hilde was present. The crocodile in a Urwaldsee was a dummy and was pulled on a rope.
