Location and population

In the overall community formed in 1995 from 21 villages 6202 people live. The main town Ig alone has 2054 inhabitants. The community is located 10 km south of the capital Ljubljana on the edge of the Ljubljana moor and mountain Crimea ( 1107 m).

In the town are the prehistoric lake dwellings, the Prehistoric pile dwellings are UNESCO World Heritage around the Alps.
