MureÅŸ Floodplain Natural Park

The nature park Mures Floodplain (Romanian Parcul Natural Lunca Mureşului ) is a nature reserve along the river Mureş ( Maros German ) in the counties Arad and Timis in Romania. The nature park Mures Floodplain extends from Arad downriver to the border with Hungary. He is since 2005, declared by the IUCN guidelines, Conservation Area. Description

Since centuries, the river Mures shaped the region Arad, where his natural course was straightened to 1910 repeatedly by human intervention. Very close to the Natural Park Lunca Mureşului there are two historic monasteries: Hodos - Bodrog from the 12th century and Bezdin, which was founded in the 16th century. Both belong in Romania of the oldest of its kind While Hodos - Bodrog to the Romanian Orthodox Church belongs, Bezdin is one of the last remaining Serbian Orthodox monasteries in the country.
